Region IX Injury Prevention Network
MISSION:
To
promote injury prevention and control through the identification
of injury prevention issues, and the development and
implementation of cooperative strategies and activities within
the states of Region IX (Arizona, California, Nevada, and
Hawaii).
GOAL:
To
reduce the number, severity, and cost of unintentional and
intentional injuries in Region IX.
BACKGROUND:
The
Region IX Injury Prevention Network was established in 1994
during the Eighth Annual California Childhood Injury Prevention
Conference. Members joined together for purposes of networking,
sharing information, enhancing availability and utilization of
data, and promoting injury prevention and control initiatives
within Region IX. The Network provides a structure for
collaboration on injury prevention and control efforts.
MEMBERSHIP:
The
Region IX Injury Prevention Network is a collaboration among a
variety of agencies and organizations. Membership includes state
representatives from Maternal and Child Health, Emergency
Medical Services and Traffic Safety Offices. Also represented
are federal agencies including the Maternal and Child Health
Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration Field
Office - Region IX; National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration - Region IX; Federal Highway Administration -
Western Resource Center; university-based injury research and
prevention centers; and other public and private agencies whose
function includes injury prevention and control.
